Getting the family together for a portrait shoot issomething lots of us have on our to-do list. Coming from a large family of mixed age groups myself, I know only too well how difficult it can be to organise people together. That is why I work hard on my family portrait shoots to find out as much as possible beforehand about what the family would like to get out of their portrait shoot.
Is it a present for Grandma or a special 40th birthday celebration, a visit from a family members who lives overseas, or even to celebrate the birth of a new baby within a family? I would love to chat to you about what will best suit the members of your family. For smaller groups where there are younger children involved it can be a good idea to have a studio style portait shoot in the convenience of your own home.
From experience, both as a mum and a photographer, I have found that photo shoots are much more relaxing if you know in advance that you can put the baby down for a sleep, before or after the shoot. The same applies with energetic toddlers. You can let them play whilst I concentrate on another family group before it is his or her turn! Phew!
My portable studio equipment can be set up in most living rooms or dining rooms using a black an /or white back drop.
Alternatively, in warmer months you may like the idea of a lifestyle shoot. This is where we can plan to have a family shoot outdoors on location: the beach, the woods, the park, or perhaps somewhere that is special to you?
I would love to hear from you. Please do contact me HERE.

Capturing a good image of someone means understanding how to take a well-lit, flattering, relaxed and carefully positioned photo. As a professional, I know how to achieve this and I also know how to edit and delete the ones that don’t show you in the best light.
I use Canon prime lenses – light, unimposing and quiet. I always look for natural light but I’m not afraid to use flash where necessary to capture the most flattering shots.
